Katy Barry is a California-licensed, nationally certified acupuncturist. She began her life in Colorado and at an early age moved to Delaware. She graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. Over the next few years, Katy taught environmental courses and special education at various places including the Navajo Indian Reservation in Window Rock, AZ, Pete Seeger’s Clearwater Boat on the Hudson River, and at a school on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

After attending a retreat at Pendle Hill, a Quaker center near Philadelphia, Katy decided to live, work and study in the intentional community for three years. While there, she became aware of her passion for healing not only the earth, but also of helping people heal their body, mind and spirit. She saw how people treat the earth as a direct reflection of how they treat themselves. In 1998, Katy embarked on a new career of massage therapy and energy work.

After becoming nationally certified and starting her own massage business, Katy began to receive acupuncture to help her with her ailments and emotions. It changed her life. She became fascinated with the healing power of the treatments and decided to study the ancient art. She moved to Honolulu to study at Tai Hsuan Institute, and two years later transferred to Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz, CA. After six years of study, she graduated with certificate specialties in Medical Qigong, Five –Element, and Sports Injury Medicine. Katy also has an emphasis on women’s health, muscular-skeletal injuries and emotional disorders.

Katy has a holistic approach in her treatments. She works with the body’s innate wisdom to self heal from recent and long-term health conditions. She believes the key to making changes in one’s body, mind, and spirit is by treating the whole person. She explores with her clients their lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, and emotions. Katy helps to weed out unhealthy aspects of one’s life to incorporate more balance. It is her mission to help patients achieve and maintain their goals of health and well-being.
