Anna Rudel is certified both nationally and in the State of California to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Anna soon realized that it was her calling to study and immerse herself in Asian cultures. When she was 18, she moved to Indonesia for a year, and it was there that she came into contact with TCM for the first time. Fascinated by the different healing practices she was observing and experiencing, she enrolled in Swansea University, Wales, to study cultural anthropology with an emphasis on Maritime South East Asia. After earning her BSc. Econ, she moved to Japan for 3 years. It was there that she really began to understand the nuances of a system where both Eastern and Western medicine are practiced along side each other. She trained in Aikido from a Master of Martial Arts, and a practitioner of TCM. It was at this time, and under Kubota-sensei’s guidance that she began seriously studying TCM. In 1996, she moved to the US, and enrolled at Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and graduated four years later with a Masters in TCM. She went on to take the National and California State licensing exams, and has now set up her practice in San Jose, CA.

Anna specializes in Women’s health and gastro-intestinal complaints. She treats a lot of women with menopausal and menstrual issues and other problems such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Crohn’s disease in her clinic. Anna focuses on lifestyle and long-term solutions rather than only on relieving the symptoms. Central to her practice is the belief that there is a place for Western and Eastern medical modalities to coexist. She believes that TCM plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of health and wellbeing, as well as successfully and non-invasively treating disease patterns that Western Medical modalities have difficulty treating.

With her office just minutes away from San Jose State University, Anna finds the time to participate in broadening student’s knowledge by guest-speaking for classes. She is also active in her local community and is always searching for new ways in which she can become involved. She excels at public speaking and is more than willing to participate in any way possible at local events.
