Angie O’Sullivan was born in Singapore and raised in Southern Germany by a French mother and German father. With parents who both loved traveling and discovering new cultures, Angie had the opportunity to explore many different countries at an early age. Always itching to go beyond the confines of the small town she grew up in, Angie left Germany for the U.S. after finishing high school. She lived for 2 years in upstate New York, where she began her college education, contemplating a career in either psychology or medicine. When she moved across the country to Santa Cruz, California, she stumbled across the website for a Traditional Chinese Medicine school. Not having been aware thus far that an accredited, state and nationally recognized program for Chinese Medicine even existed, she was intrigued! Angie had grown up with a mother who was a big proponent of natural approach to health and did everything in her power to avoid unnecessary use of surgery or antibiotics on her children. She had thus been exposed to a variety of alternative health care systems from an early age on, ranging from homeopathy to acupuncture, hands-on healing and healing with whole foods. After attending an open house at Five Branches Institute, College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Angie knew she had found the career she wanted to embark on! She completed her undergraduate coursework and enrolled in the 4-year Master’s program in TCM and, after graduating from Five Branches, obtained her CA State and National certification to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine. When starting her studies at Five Branches, Angie was first introduced to the ancient Chinese exercise system known as Qi Gong. She quickly came to recognize its value in both maintaining and restoring health and became a dedicated student of this meditative, centering art of movement. She is now committed to bringing the healing value of Qi Gong to others through teaching. Angie studied for many years under Lee Holden, renowned Qi Gong practitioner and himself a Licensed Acupuncturist, attending his every class and interning with him in his private practice in Los Gatos, CA. She also attended numerous workshops of world-renowned Qi Gong masters, including Master Mantak Chia, Master Fu, and Grandmaster Zhang. Angie specializes in treating digestive and mental-emotional disorders, as well as women’s health. She holds a strong belief that emotional and physiological imbalances are closely linked, and aims at restoring overall harmony and balance of mind, body, and spirit through acupuncture, the use of Chinese herbs, and diet and lifestyle modification.
